Jedi Clam Eaters Alert: 15th Annual Fire Company Clam Bake in Bay Head, NJ Today — Saturday, August 21, 2010

It is a gorgeous day in Bay Head, New Jersey, and I’m lounging on our front porch, listening to Lucinda Williams, while Rex takes a long bike ride and London and Maddie help out with their friend’s yard sale across the street.  It’s the perfect day for the beach… or for a clam bake!

Since my two girls are Jedi clam eaters, it may surprise you to know that we’ve never participated in the Annual Clam Bake to benefit the Bay Head Fire Company #1.

Today’s the day for the 15th annual clam bake from noon to 5pm, rain or shine (and we’re lookin’ at lots of shine) at the fire house, 81 Bridge Avenue in Bay Head, New Jersey. The food will include clam chowder, steamers, cherry stones, hot dogs, hamburgers, corn on the cob, hot roast beef and sausage sandwiches, beer and soda.  Tickets are $32 at the gate.

As or more importantly, there will be live music.  We’re hoping for a repeat of last year’s performance by the Sherman Brothers Band. Until we saw them perform at the Bay Head Rubber Duck Derby in 2009, we never knew our plumbers could rock!
